Doctoral Candidate

Sara grew up in Montenegro, on the sunny Adriatic coast. Ever since then she had deep appreciation and respect for the sea. She graduated in Biology at the University of Belgrade and later won a scholarship for the Erasmus Mundus master in Marine Environment and Resources, which gave her an invaluable opportunity to study marine sciences at the University of Southampton (UK), Universidad del Pais Vasco (ES), Universite de Liege (BE). Her MSc thesis was about ecosystem-based management of Atlantic pelagic fisheries, supervised by Dr. Maria Jose Juan Jorda and Dr. Hilario Murua. Inspired by the challenge of understanding our rapidly changing world, she found a place in Henry’s group as a doctoral candidate, analyzing massive corals of the Pacific to help reconstruct the story of how our climate has been changing in the Anthropocene.
